    2013 CSA Membership Agreement

Becoming a Part of Our Farm

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between our farm and you as our customer. Rather than simply purchasing food at a super, or farmers market, our customers become "members" of this CSA farm who receive a portion of the farm's harvest. This portion is know as a members share.

Our CSA runs for 22 weeks from June to November. On average you will receive seven pounds of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables each week. Deliveries to your home are made on Sunday's. We will bring your share of the farms bounty and pick up last weeks bag with your check. Variety and quantity may vary as described below.

    Our Growing Practices

Our farm grow crops following organic standards as set by the USDA Certified Organic Program. Although we are in compliance with the standards for organic certification, at this time we are not certified organic. The additional record-keeping and costs to become certified are not justified at this time for our small farm.

All of our farm animals are free range, grass fed. Free range animals are allowed continuous access to the outdoors during their production cycle.

Sharing in the Risk of Crop Failure

We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful share each week. The quantity of produce coming home for you each week may vary due to extreme weather, insects, or other acts of nature, despite our best efforts. By joining our CSA , you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members. In the unlikely event of a crop failure, our procedure is as follows:

If only a small portion of the crops fail, we compensate for failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown on the farm that are ready for harvest at that time. If large portions of our crops fail due to major disaster's such a tornado or hail storms, we may cover for our crop loss by buying in produce from other local organic farmers for you.

Sharing in the Reward of Crop Surplus

Our farm is exclusively a CSA farm and all of our production is planned for the CSA. When crops are especially abundant, we pack as much as possible into your share. However, we don't want to overwhelm our members or deliver so much produce that it goes to waste.  We will help you handle the surplus by providing you with directions on how to can, freeze, and preserve your share of the harvest for future use.
Most seasons we experiment with new varieties of fruits and vegetables so that we can increase diversity. These crops will be distributed as equitably as possible, but all members of the CSA may not receive all items or all members may receive a small sample of these varieties.

    Membership Fees

By selling membership fees in advance of the growing season, you reduce the burden of up-front costs for the farmer. Your membership fee of $175 provides us with money to purchase seed and plants before the season starts. We appreciate your commitment.  Your membership fee is non-refundable. By clicking on the "Join Us" button below, you are agreeing to join our farm and pay the membership fee for your share.

    Communicating with Us

The best way to communicate with us is via email. Our email address is wellhausengroup@aol.com . We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible. But, please understand that during the growing season we spend most of our time in the fields growing your food. So, it may take a little while to get back to you.
When you sign-up as a member, you will be added to our members only newsletter list. Please read your email from us as soon as possible. We will be giving you information about the crops that will be coming home for you, recipes, and other farm related news.

By signing below, I agree to purchase the membership share as outlined above. I understand that, although unlikely, the farm may change parts of this agreement related to the production and distribution from time to time. I understand that the farm will contact me via email in advance of any changes to this agreement.
